Aftermath in SouthEast ASIA
Neighboring Cambodia was dragged into the conflict. It was bombed by the U.S. air force in an attempt to stop North Vietnamese communists supplying their southern allies via the Ho Chi Minh Trail, which ran through eastern Laos and Cambodia. Shortly before the fall of Saigon in 1975, the Cambodian communists, the Khmer Rouge, captured Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia. All of the fighting in Cambodia created a refugee problem. This problem was fixed later on because the Cambodian people left to go to Thailand.
AFtermath in AmericaThe aftermath in the United States was different than previous wars. The soldiers were thought to have committed atrocities against people of Vietnam. The american people protested for peace throughout the war, but when troops came home they were "shunned" by society.
